After an unforgettable Demo Day event that celebrated innovation and collaboration, we concluded the first-ever Confluence Challenge. The Demo Day was more than just a display of groundbreaking solutions; it was a clear demonstration of the strength of collaborative innovation in Greece.

Eight Letters of Intent (LoI) have already been confirmed by the Confluence Challenge industry partners, indicating plans to implement solutions showcased at the Demo Day. This is a true testament to our teams’ level of skill and the high caliber of their work.

Confluence Excellence Award

The top award of this year’s program, is shared between Exanta and HazLab. Both teams showcased exceptional work ethic and commitment to our open innovation program, leading them to share this year's prestigious award and the accompanying prize of 15,000€! Their extraordinary dedication and groundbreaking solutions have set a high benchmark in our program, earning them this well-deserved recognition.

Exanta (a spin-off from AUTh) - With a solid track record in large-scale data aggregation, forecasting and business analytics, the team worked with Alumil to develop a solution for advanced sales forecasting.

HazLab - Building on years of experience with large-scale research projects and industry R&D in multiple verticals, the team worked with Isomat to develop a solution for smart labelling of hazardous chemicals.

This award, accompanied by a 5,000€ prize, recognizes the most innovative solution with the highest potential for international market adoption. SmartLoC's cutting-edge approach and potential to reshape industry standards have truly set them apart.

SmartLoC - Having developed a unique technology platform for B2B payment and supply-chain visibility, the company worked with Alumil to develop a solution for Challenge #10: Smart Letter of Credit.

Innovation for Society Award

The Innovation for Society Award, along with a 5,000€ monetary prize, sponsored by One Stop Liaison Office, celebrates the solution that has shown the highest potential for positive impact! Such an impact was showcased by the Laboratory of Polymer Reaction Engineering (LPRE) at the Chemical Process and Energy Resources Institute (CPERI) of the Centre for Research & Technology, Hellas (CERTH).

LPRE Lab - With a solid track record in polymers, bio-based nanomaterials, and development of nanocomposites, the team worked with Alumil to develop a solution for Challenge #8: Improved methods for painting composite materials.

Technology Innovation Award

This award, accompanied by a 5,000€ prize sponsored by Thess INTEC, recognizes the remarkable ingenuity and forward-thinking work of two teams:

PROMISE (part of CDXi Solutions, a CERTH spin-off) - Building on many years of experience on production forecasting and operational environments research, the team worked with Alumil to develop a solution for Challenge #9: Scrap-rate forecasting and reduction

Intelli.ware (a joint project between Rhoé and embneusys) - Leveraging the expertise of Rhoé in advanced data analytics and the cutting-edge RFID technology of Embneusys, the group worked with Kleemann to develop a solution for Challenge #2: Optimal utilisation of warehouse space

Incubation Services Award

This award, sponsored by Thessaloniki Innovation Zone, aims at nurturing innovation with incubation support. The four winners received incubation support to further develop their innovative projects!

WeLink - Having created a novel approach to track recyclable materials and to develop recycling reward programs, the startup from Thessaloniki worked with Isomat to develop a solution for Challenge #5: Circular approach to packaging.

M4D Vision - With a track record of bringing research results to operational environments, the project team (part of CDXi Solutions, a Εθνικό Κέντρο Έρευνας και Τεχνολογικής Ανάπτυξης spin-off) collaborated with Alumil to develop a solution for optimizing aluminum dross skimming procedures.

CargoWatch - With a solid background on package monitoring and production prioritisation, the project team (part of CDXi Solutions) worked with Kleemann to develop a solution for Challenge #3: Transportation scheduling optimisation

Ecomateria - Building on many years of experience with bringing research results to operational environments, the project team (part of CDXi Solutions) worked with ISOMAT to develop a solution for Challenge #4: Bill of Materials (BoM) optimization.
